Adult Literacy support in Marlborough began in 1978 after Pat Robbins and Beverley Brayshaw completed a tutor-training course in Nelson and began offering individual tuition. Students received help with reading, spelling, writing and numeracy.
In the almost 40 years since and with several names and address changes, Literacy Marlborough has continued to grow. Hundreds of tutors have trained and worked with hundreds more students to improve their literacy and numeracy.
In 2016, we moved into new premises in central Blenheim and look forward to many more years of working to improve literacy and numeracy in Marlborough.
Literacy Marlborough is established to develop, promote and deliver accessible, quality literacy services designed to ensure the peoples of Marlborough are critically literate and able to realise their full social, cultural and economic potential.
